Wylie Garcia
Wylie Garcia’s use of floral imagery explores the untamed pleasures of uncertainty. Inspired by intimate portals, imaginary floral landscapes, and the “wild untending of pleasurable pursuits,” she is currently focusing on creating layered and emotive paintings with attention to romanticism within landscape-inspired scenes.
A Mexican-Swedish-American artist born in Houston and based in Charlotte, Vermont, Garcia has received numerous grants and fellowships, including the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. Her work is held in the permanent collections of the Fleming Museum, the University of Vermont Medical Center, and Georgetown College.
